Homework at Salendine Nook
At Salendine Nook we view homework as an integral part to learning; a supportive tool to ensure our students achieve the best outcomes they can. It helps to develop independent study skills as well as encourage students to become used to working outside of the normal hours of school. This is very important for both examination preparation but also for getting used to the demands of professional career in the future. We hope that it supports the learning they do in their lessons and fosters a culture of learning in all environments.
Therefore we believe that homework:
- Must be relevant to the teacher’s curricular objectives
- Takes place outside formal classroom teaching
- Is primarily the responsibility of the learner
The role of parents in supporting the out of school learning of their children is greatly appreciated. To support this process, we set homework through an online system “Show My Homework”, which allows all parents to view the homework that has been set by their child’s teachers and when it is due in.
Resources to help with homework will also be attached here for parents to view. Parents have been issued with pin numbers to access this. Students login via the Sign in with Office 365 option, using their school email address and password. If you have any questions regarding this system, please contact the school.
Students can manage submission of homework and view grades by clicking the SMHW link on the bottom banner of the school website or visiting https://salendine.showmyhomework.co.uk/school/home and logging in via the Sign in with Office 365 option, you will then need to use your Office 365 login details.. If you do not know your logon details, or are new to the school, please contact the school the using our contact form or via telephone.
