At Salendine Nook, we believe the school uniform achieves three important goals:
• It encourages a sense of community identity and pride. By wearing the same badge and the same clothing, students are encouraged to think of the needs of the community as well as their own individual needs.
• It encourages our students to develop habits for life. By learning to take pride in appearance, ensuring they are smart throughout the day, students learn the habits of discipline and personal responsibility that will stay with them for life.
• It helps to prevent unkindness or bullying. By requiring all our students to wear the same uniform and maintain a high standard when wearing this, we can reduce the chance of unkindness.
For our uniform policy to be successful, we require the support of all parents, students, and staff. If we are able to have this consistent approach from all involved in our school community, we can contribute to a positive learning environment by challenging the smaller things in school and maintaining an excellent learning environment.
Families requiring support with school uniform are encouraged to access Uniform Exchange, a Kirklees charity that provides free pre-loved school uniform, PE kit, coats and footwear to local families. Requests can be made directly through the Uniform Exchange website or by calling 07955 724789.
Salendine Nook also hosts a Uniform Exchange stand within school, which parents and carers are welcome to access for available second-hand uniform items. If you require any assistance, please contact the school and we will be happy to help.
