Welcome to IT & Business Studies
Information Technology/Computer Science is a popular subject which helps to prepare students for the digital world. All students study this subject at Key Stage 3 during which they will cover a wide range of topics and further develop their digital skills in preparation for life after Salendine Nook. Topics include E-safety, programming, digital graphics, website production and Binary/Logic Gates in year 7. In year 8 students look at how a business would market itself, how to produce and edit sounds, how to produce digital apps and how to sequence instructions in order to control robots. At Key Stage 4, students can study GCSE Computer Science, Business Studies or Economics or alternatively they can take a more hands on approach and study Creative I-Media or BTEC Business Studies.

The ‘Curriculum Rationale’ will give you the reasoning behind why we teach your child what we do and why we have chosen to order the topics in the way we have.
We hope that you will find this information useful, but if you require anything further about your child’s education in this subject please do not hesitate to contact the Head of Department.
