Summer Showcase 2023

In Drama by Salendine Nook

On Thursday 22nd June, we had our summer showcase ‘Night at the Musicals’ and what a spectacular night it was with a cast of over 50 students involved. The evening was hosted by two year 7 students who did an amazing job keeping the audience entertained throughout the evening and introduced our array of acts. We had live music performances from GCSE Music students, there was ‘The Band’ who performed a cover of ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’, as well as a trio of Year 10 Music students performing a rendition of ‘Defying Gravity’ from Wicked the Musical. The school concert band entertained guests as they took their seats with a movie montage, to then later performing a medley of Disney classics. Our musicals club came together to put on two musical numbers, one from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and a medley of songs from ‘Les Misérables’. Drama students, past and present performed a mini production from ‘Blood Brothers’. As well as our students from the school performing, we were lucky enough to be joined by two local primary schools, Reinwood Juniors, and Moorland Primary School, as well as students from Huddersfield New College. Some of the other highlights of the evening included a Dance piece from one of the GCSE Dance students, duologues, and monologues from ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘Alice in Wonderland.’ The stunt team and pom squad from our cheerleading students performed for us, but a big thank you and well done goes to our year 11 students who got involved with the show, whether helping with backstage or performing in the show. It is fair to say that we have some incredibly talented students in our school, and we cannot wait to see them progress throughout the rest of their time here. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for some exciting news regarding our Summer musical next year.
