Compulsory Uniform Change September 2018-19

Dear Parents / Carers,

Compulsory Uniform Change 2018-19 - IMPORTANT UPDATE

This a further update and response to some issues raised by parents in relation to adding a small logo to approved school trousers and skirts from September.

If you have already purchased trousers and / or skirts from another supplier, a logo can be added to these at minimal cost (approximately £1.50). The suppliers below will add the small logo to the approved uniform items (see attached images). This should address the concerns some parents have raised.

If it is inconvenient to take the trousers into our suppliers below, the school is also offering a free service until the end of this term (16 July 2018). We will add a logo to trousers and skirts which parents have already purchased. Simply drop the items off at Student Services at school (in a plastic bag with a name added) and we will add the logo and return the item/s to your child.

These are our four suppliers:

  • Natashas Schoolwear, 1 Buxton Way, New Street, Huddersfield, HD1 2UL. Mobile- 07792269437. Office- 01484 431260.
  • Bridge School Wear, 4-6 Scar Lane, Milnsbridge HD3 4PE. Mobile- 07886228625. Office- 01484 655 655. https://www.bridgeschoolwear.co.uk
  • Principle Uniforms, 2 Byram Street, Huddersfield, HD1 1BX. Tel: 01484 511190 www.principleuniforms.co.uk , This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
  • Term Time Wear, 5 Saint John's Road, Huddersfield, HD1 5AY. Tel: 01484 453534, http://www.termtimewear.com/

These suppliers will provide approved skirts and trousers:

Girls:

  • A pleated skirt
  • A plain skirt
  • ‘Skinny’ trousers
  • Straight trousers.

Boys:

  • Slim fit trousers
  • Straight trousers.

Please click here to see the images showing the approved girls trousers and skirts.

The expected cost is still around £12 to £15 per item, depending upon size and item purchased. Financial support is also available to help meet any increased costs.

The reason for the change is that a significant number of students currently wear black canvas jeans, leggings and elasticated /very short skirts. It is currently not possible to set a clear standard for what is acceptable in terms of trousers and skirts.

I am sure that this revised plan now addresses the some of the remaining concerns that have been raised, particularly around cost and where parents have already purchased uniform.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you wish to raise any further concerns.

Darren Christian
