For this year’s Technology Days, Year 9 students took part in a range of design and technology activities organised and run by the Technology Department with special thanks to Ms. Evans and Steve Cooper.
Students took part in a range of activities which included:
- Polyfusion in Textiles
- Working with recycled plastic to produce their own fabric to design and make products with
- Muffin batch production in Food Technology using a range of interesting ingredients and flavours
- Apprentice style Resistant Materials

- Working in teams to design the most commercially viable products
- Hovercraft development in Engineering
- Innovative design in Graphics working with Graphic Designer Steve Cooper and circuit design in Electronics.
The days allow students to experience a new side to design and technology in preparation for the start of the GCSE’s.
All the activities are designed to push the creativity and independence of students and give the students a feel for the possibilities within the subject.
The Design & Technology department would like to thank the Year 9 students for their efforts and enthusiasm throughout the 2 days. They worked creatively and as a result designed and produced some excellent quality products that they should all be proud of.
