Kirklees College Young Chef of the Year 2016: Show Stopper Challenge

Kirklees College Hospitality department invited 'budding chefs' from schools in Kirklees to take part in the ‘Show Stopper Challenge’.

  • The students had two hours to create four portions of a show stopper dessert and sweet sauce.
  • Entries were judged on taste, appearance, originality, seasonality, cost, use of local produce, working practices and cleanliness

Image03image01Two students from SNHS were successful in the heats and won a place in the final.

The final round of the competition took place on Tuesday 21st June.

We are extremely proud to announce that Rachael Rushworth achieved first place with her Ginger Sponge with vanilla cheesecake filling, caramelised pears and salted caramel topping.Image02

Zak Norton-Podmore came second with his Rhubarb sponge and crème anglaise.
