Extra Curricular

We have a thriving Extra Curricular programme, including Concert Band, Glee Choir, Boys Choir, Chamber Choir, String Group, Guitar Club, Year 7 and 8 Drama Club (starting soon) and a variety of other ensembles formed for specific events during the year.  Every year we run a highly successful Talent Show in the autumn and very popular Cabaret in the summer.  Every two years we stage a major musical show.  Last year this was Alice in Wonderland.  In the intervening years, there are special events such as year group Showcases or a Senior School Play performance.

At Christmas we have our Seasonal Concert in which all the music ensembles regularly rehearsing in school are able to perform.  For the last few years we have also been pleased to welcome pupils from our main feeder Junior Schools who have performed at this concert.  The Carol Service at St Stephen’s Church in Lindley is one of the highlights of Christmas at the school.  All of our year seven pupils travel down to the Church for a service of lessons and carols with performances from our music ensembles.

With colleagues from the Art Department, every year we organise a Creative Arts trip to London.  This includes a visit to a National Gallery, a backstage tour of a West End theatre and attendance at a play and a musical.  We stay overnight in a central London hotel.  The trip is aimed at students studying Music, Art or Drama at GCSE level.
