The European Day of Languages 2015

Students and staff had a fantastic day celebrating the European Day of Languages this year on Friday 25th September. There was array of fantastic activities on the day ranging from Inter-Form quizzes to Year 8 cross-curricular geography events in MFL lessons. In fact the whole staff were involved in supporting the day by wearing labels with foreign languages for students to spot and note down during the day. The Year 9s learned all about traditional French, Spanish & German dishes and they even followed an authentic recipe to bake for a celebratory lesson on the day itself. A highlight of the day was the fashion parade in Year 7 MFL lessons as students proudly showed off their European-themed hats that they had designed and created for the competition. Amongst the entries were an afternoon tea set, a gladiatorial arena, the Eiffel Tower , a Swiss cuckoo clock and Napoleon’s hat! All in all the day was a huge success with students and staff having a great time getting involved in the activities and thoroughly enjoying discovering new cultures!
