European Day of Languages celebrations- Thursday 26th September

We’ve had a fun and busy week in the MFL department doing lots of different activities to celebrate all things European.  All form groups across the school took part in a quiz to test their general knowledge on Europe.

Well done to the following forms who won a prize for scoring the highest marks on the quiz in their year group:

Year 7 = Joint winners 7F and 7K
Year 8 = 8C
Year 9 = 9C
Year 10 = Joint winners 10H and 10F
Year 11 = 11A

In addition to this Year 7 pupils made an outstanding effort in creating a hat to represent a European country of their choice.  They were able to wear their fabulous creations in lessons during the week.  Here are some examples of their hats:

Some very talented Year 9 pupils made European themed cakes and buns to sell at the Macmillan Coffee morning on Friday 27th September, in order to raise money for the Cancer charity.  The cakes and buns went down well and many pupils enjoyed eating their creations whilst helping to raise over £130 for Macmillan Nurses.

Year 8 pupils were challenged to think of an item of clothing or prop that they could bring to a lesson to represent a European country of their choice.  We had a wide range of items including Spanish fans. German football shirts and French baguettes!
Well done to all pupils who took part in the events.
