New York 2015

New York 201546 Year 11 pupils have just returned from New York where they had a fantastic time. One of the highlights was the 9/11 Memorial which many pupils said was an emotional place to visit. They also took part in a number of activities for Black History Month. They went on a hip-hop tour of Harlem and the Bronx where some pupils and staff were taught street dance outside the Yankee Stadium, they did a tour of The Apollo theatre where some of the group even sang on this world famous stage, they ate Soul Food at Manna’s restaurant and they danced to the house funk band at Café Wha? Other highlights included a visit to the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn where they watched the New York Islanders defeat the Calgary Flames 4-0 in the National Hockey League.

All of the group commented on what a fantastic experience they had and they even enjoyed the hustle and bustle of using the New York subway. The staff were incredibly impressed with the behaviour of the pupils and with the maturity that they showed whilst in this busy and exciting city.
