Bradford Media Museum

The Media Studies students in Y11 and the Y10 Photography students will be visiting the Bradford Media Museum on Tuesday 8th January 2013.

The visit is intended to enable the Y11 students to:

• Learn about the roles and systems involved in working in TV;
• Develop hands-on experience of filming and editing;
• Focus on the impact of advertising;
• Create a media text of their own which may contribute towards
their coursework submission.

It is particularly aimed at the specific needs of the Y11 students who will be examined this year on TV and Web-based Dramas. The Y10 students will visit the special photographic sections of the museum.

Y11 will take part in a 2 hour TV advertising workshop where they will produce their own work. All students will view some of the standing exhibitions.

We will leave school after morning registration and return by 3:15pm. Full uniform is required and students will need a packed lunch; if your child is claiming free school meals then a lunch will be prepared for them by the kitchens. A small amount of money is permitted for souvenirs from the museum shop, or drinks from the vending facilities, however staff will not take responsibility for valuable items such as mobile phones and mp3 players, therefore it is recommended they should not be taken on the trip.

The cost of the coach travel, insurance, and film workshop is £18.00 for Y11, and £9 for Y10. Please pay via ParentPay by 10th December, ensuring you completed the required permission for the trip. If you do not have access to the internet, please request a barcoded letter from the school office.

All payments are voluntary contributions, however if the full cost is not met then the trip will not go ahead. In cases of financial hardship, or receipt of specific benefits, please contact the school in writing as some assistance may be available.

Yours sincerely

Mrs AJ Glover [Teacher of Media Studies]
Mr J Grady [Photography & ICT]
